Good Evening Padres,
Welcome to 2020! I am so happy to have our Padres back on campus and ready to go into the new semester.
The Week Behind
Our staff has been working this week on finalizing semester grades and have encountered some glitches in Aeries. This may delay printing report cards for a day or two but will not impact those students in need of a mid-year transcript sent off to colleges. We ask that you are patient as we work through these issues
The Week(s) Ahead
As the weather gets colder we get an increase in student drop off and pick up from the front of the school. This increase means that it is essential that we all work together to ensure all students are safe. Please follow the directions of our campus staff about where to drop off and wait for pick up. It can be easier to pick up in the afternoon if parents wait for 15 minutes until after the bell to enter the parking lot. This allows us to get our student drivers out with minimal issue. Students are welcome to wait for a ride in the library. We appreciate that all parents have other commitments in the afternoon but if possible try to arrange for pick up of your child slightly later in the day. We are continuing to explore ways to improve the overall drop off and pick up flow in the lot and appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
The Carmel Interact Club, in conjunction with the Stevenson Interact Club, is holding an art supply drive to benefit Syrian refugees. Please consider donating new or gently used art supplies or monetary donations. Collection bins will be located in the library and in various classrooms from Monday, January 13 through Friday, January 24. To see a photo of some of the Syrian refugee children at the Syrian border refugee camp, check out the post on Instagram or Twitter @Carmel_Interact
Padre Parent Corner
We hope you all had a nice break and were able to enjoy quality family time. It is hard to believe we are halfway through the 2019/2020 school year. Half of the Padre Parent board will have our youngest child graduate in 2020 or 2021. We need parents to shadow in the 2020/2021 school year for the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Webmaster. We will also be losing our Social Media Coordinator this year, so we will need to fill that position for the 2020/2021 school year. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Morgan at: email@example.com.
We will be sending out the 2019/2020 school directory this month. If you indicated in InfoSnap that you wanted your information included and have changed your mind please notify Lisa Morgan at: firstname.lastname@example.org NO LATER THAN Friday January 17th.
Our next student of the month recognition will be on Friday January 17th, when we will be recognizing the December students. Our February Padre Parent meeting will be on Thursday February 6th at 8:00 AM in the CHS Theater foyer - we hope to see you there.
Post-holiday Sober Grad reminder: Every year at graduation we provide great prizes for our seniors heading out to college and the work world; things like microwave ovens, mini-fridges, and command hooks for dorm rooms, power strips, Costco and Uber gift certificates, bicycles, and Razor scooters for any 18 year old. Your gift is tax deductible. We're also working hard to get local businesses to donate some of these items. In addition, if your family found a gift under the tree that you're not sure you'll use, please consider donating it to Sober Grad. Please email email@example.com or contact Jill Movahedi. In addition, our annual rummage sale will be on March 28 at CHS. Please start setting aside new and gently used items for donation. More info to come next month.
