Good Evening Padres,
Happy Veteran’s Day Weekend. To all our families who have members in the service we here at CHS extend our thanks and appreciation.
The Week Behind
The past couple of weeks have seen a lot of activities for our visual and performing arts community. Students have showcased their talents at the recent Art Expo where industry professionals and college art teachers critiqued our young artists work. This experience will be valuable as students interested in a career in art develop their portfolios. We also saw our choir and orchestra students fill the theater with music. For these students the initial nerves I saw backstage gave way to thrilling performances and a demonstration of all the hard work they put into their craft. Halloween gave our Drama students a chance to create a chilling 1950’s inspired haunted house. These thespians took time and care to develop a spin tingling walkthrough for our students while displaying their talents for the outlandish. If you have not yet had a chance to see any of these groups work you are doing yourself a disservice.
The Week(s) Ahead
Just a reminder that we are beginning to prepare for our annual Breaking Down The Walls experience next week. Breaking Down the Walls for High School students is a program designed to unify, empower, and engage every student to create a positive and supportive campus culture. Over the course of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, students will be given the chance to share their story and listen to each other in a caring and compassionate environment. The school is committed to developing a climate of care where all students can express themselves and we are confident this program will be a large part of us attaining that goal.
We will also be hosting our Community Service Fair on Wednesday November 20th. This event is held every year to showcase opportunities for students to fulfill their service requirement. We will have over 30 organizations that will showcase ways for our students engage with the community in a positive way. This is in line with the part of our school vision of creating connected citizens who can work in the larger Carmel ecosystem for the benefit of others.
Padre Parent Corner
Today we had a wonderful Balanced Break brought in by our Padre Parents for all students to share. Thank you to parents Robyn Rauh, Rita Patel, Kristen Hunter, Rosa Hung, Sarah Myers and Lisa Morgan and an extra shout out to Kimberly Whitaker for organizing the event. Thank you also Mrs. Powers for providing the music.
Thank you to those parents that joined us at our last Padre Parent Meeting. If you missed out you can review the meeting minutes and the presentation made by the school on CAASPP, AP, ACT and SAT data by visiting the link below in our links section.
SUPER BOWL RAFFLE tickets on sale NOW in the College and Career Center! Drawing Monday, December 16. Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100.
The raffle is a school-wide fundraiser sponsored by Padre Parents to help support scholarships, clubs, fine arts, music boosters, athletics, etc. Each group keeps 80% of the profit to help fund their needs.
The Raffle Grand Prize is 2 tickets to the Super Bowl in Miami and $2000 cash.
We need YOU to help spread the word on this incredible event and SELL tickets to your friends, families, work colleagues, and neighbors. YOU can also BUY tickets for yourself. Who knows maybe you will have a winning ticket!
We are still in need of volunteers to help on the Super Bowl Raffle committee.
The raffle committee helps to collect additional raffle prizes for the drawing, marketing the raffle to the community, promoting ticket sales, planning the night of drawing event. Meetings are Friday’s at 8:00 am in the College and Career room.
Contact Molly at email@example.com or Patricia Hunt at firstname.lastname@example.org for tickets, questions, prize donations, or to help.
We are on the PODCAST bandwagon:
For those of you on the go we have a podcast that outlines all the great activities we have here on campus as well as provides some insights into how we are working toward providing an innovative and exciting high school experience. To subscribe to the PADRECAST just search for it in your favorite podcast app, (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Anchor) and subscribe. We are still learning how to make this effective but we hope it is another way to keep everyone informed.
