COVID Update
As school is now in full swing we are starting to get questions about what to do if your student is sick or has had exposure to a COVID positive individual. The district has been working with the Monterey County Office of Education and Health Department and will be releasing updated guidance next week about how to handle different situations and how to determine if/when a quarantine is necessary. At this time we are asking parents to contact the school if your child is sick or has had known COVID exposure, and we will assist in providing guidance and next steps. We appreciate everyone’s help in keeping our students, staff, and community safe and our schools open.
Symptomatic Students
In order to keep us all safe and healthy, please be aware that any student at school who shows any symptom of illness will be sent to the office immediately and evaluated by our school nurse. Our nurse will then call the parents to discuss the situation and necessary next steps. If it is determined the student needs to leave campus, the student will need to be picked up from school immediately and the necessary next steps be followed before the student will be allowed onto campus. Please make sure you have prearranged a way of having your child picked up if you know you would have a hard time getting to school during the day. Then, upon return to campus, you and your child must check in with the office before returning to class. Thank you for your help with this and keeping us all safe and healthy.
New Back to School Night
We are sorry that we had to cancel last night’s Back to School Night. Our IT department was able to find a six to the problem today so we are up and running again. Our Virtual Back to School Night will now be next Wednesday, Aug 25, at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Your teacher will send out the zoom link for the evening.
Picture Day Coming Monday
Prior to Picture Day:
1. Students need to pre-register online in order to receive your child's picture proofs and to order pictures. Go to this website to register for Picture Day: https://mailchi.mp/30a927068c10/picture-day-is-coming-pre-register-today) Your student ID can be found on Aeries in the student info/demographic section.
2. No prepay is required or offered.
3. You do not need to print out your Camera Tickets at home. Students will receive a Camera Ticket Sticker on picture day at school.
On Picture Day:
1. Come dressed and ready for pictures!
2. Students will be able to remove masks for the picture.
After Picture Day:
1. Picture proofs and ordering information will be emailed to parents approximately 2 weeks after picture day directly from Generations (Make sure to check your spam)
2. If you order pictures, all orders will be mailed directly to your home.
Internet Hotspots for those without Internet
The district has applied for a grant to offer free hotspots to TK-12 students and staff who lack sufficient bandwidth to participate in remote/distance learning.
Use this form to apply for a hotspot. It only takes a few minutes. https://app.informedk12.com/link_campaigns/hotspot-application?token=4nP9sLMDK85TwsESEKK8YWPF
We need the total count by Thursday, August 26, so apply now!
Masks
As a reminder, please make sure you wash your child(ren)’s masks regularly as they get dirty quickly

No Coming onto Campus Before 8:25
We do not have supervision until 8:25 in the morning so students are not allowed onto campus until after the 8:25 bell rings. If you arrive before 8:25, please keep your child(ren) with you until after you hear the 8:25 bell. Please also remember that parents are not allowed in classrooms at this point. Thank you.
Dropping Students Off Late or Picking up Early
If you are dropping your student off late, please bring your child directly to the area outside the office and call us from there or wave to us. We will then check you in and let you know what to do. If you are picking your child up early, please call the office ahead of time so we know what time you are arriving and can have your child pulled out of class ready for you and then come to the area outside the office and wait for your child there.
Let’s Make A Splash Sponsorship THANK YOU
Our swim program was in jeopardy last year when we lost grant funding from the Community Foundation. Our community rallied in support of our need and in an amazing feat - and lots of generous community leaders and Tularcitos families - we raised over $14,000 in just a few weeks. Please take time to thank our swim program sponsors and support their businesses.

ParentSquare
I know from experience this week (my family is at four different schools in the district) that there was a lot of communication going out and with the default settings for ParentSquare the amount of communication could be overwhelming. However, one of the great features of the ParentSquare communication system is that you can set up your account to receive communications in most convenient way possible for you. Whether it is by text, email, or app notifications, you can decide how you want to receive communication (the default setting is to get them all of those ways) and even what times you would want to receive them each day. To learn how to adjust your settings visit the website: https://parentsquare.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040910132-Notification-Settings-.
(Even if you prefer to get the communication through text or email, I would, personally, recommend still getting the app on your phone as this makes it easy to see and reference all of the messages in one place. You can just turn off the app notifications if you do not want to get the messages that way)
