Principal's Friday Email

Good Afternoon Bobcat Families,
We are almost there! As we get to the end of this year, I want to encourage everyone to make sure you spend time celebrating the accomplishment it was to make it through this year and reflecting on what this year has taught us.
Throughout this whole year I have been encouraging us to keep a “What if” mindset. While this year has been full of challenges we never even imagined we would face, I hope that, as you look back, you can stand tall and be proud of how you and your family came through this. Even though I am sure we all hope we never have to repeat another year like this again, I hope that you can find ways that this was the best year ever and that you can look back and have some fond memories. I know that I enjoyed the slowed down pace of life (even though I worked more this year than ever before), loved the extra time I had with my wife and kids, and was finally able to get back into running regularly.
As we go into summer soon, I hope that everyone finds time to relax and celebrate. And as we look forward to next year, I hope that we start the new school year putting in place the lessons we learned from this year and really make things a “new normal” and not just return to “normal.”
So that everyone knows, while we are not sure what the exact regulations will be next year, right now, we are moving forward with planning for school to be just like it was pre-COVID with a start time of 8:40 and an end time of 2:00 for kinder and 3:00 for 1st-5th. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that everything keeps going in the right direction and we can open school just like we used to.

What a Splash we Made
Our community is so amazing. Once we get all of the committed donations in, we will now be at our goals of $14,000 raised. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to our swim program to ensure it happens next year. And if you were not able to donate, don’t worry, our PTO will be doing our normal fundraiser next year to support all of the other great activities we have going on at Tular. Thank you again, to everyone who donated.
Summer School Update
CUSD is going to be running a summer school program from June 14 – July 2 at Carmel Middle School for students that were identified as needing extra assistance from this past year. Because of how summer school is funded, it is only open to students who significantly struggled this year. Because we do not yet know how many teachers we will have for summer school, the number of students we could invite to summer school is limited right now. If, however, we are able to get more teachers, we may be able to expand the number of students that were invited. Invitations are being sent directly to families for students who were identified as needing additional assistance based on student performance on report cards this year. If you did not receive an invitation it is because your child did not qualify at this time.
Spirit Days Every Friday
It was fun to see the positive messages today and the Bobcat Spiritwear. Next Friday is Bobcat Spirit wear Day: wear your Bobcat spirit wear, or dress in green and white

Message from our PTO
Thank you to everyone for all of your help with our PTO this year. We are still looking for a president for next year. If you would like to serve as president or have someone you want to nominate, please contact Mr. Peterson or current PTO President, Gina Nucci at gina.nucci@gmail.com.

ParentSquare Required for next year!
I hope that getting communications from ParentSquare has been a nice change. The rest of this year I will be sending out all of my Friday emails via ParentSquare as well as our current communication system because, starting next year, we will only be using ParentSquare as our communication tool. Our district spent significant time this year researching and evaluating different communication systems and ParentSquare was, hands down, the best. So, for any families who have not yet downloaded the ParentSquare app because you are still on distance learning, please make sure to download it now. Here are the directions:
- Download the ParentSquare app for your phone from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
- On a computer, just go to parentsquare.com/signin to set up your account
- For detailed instructions, check out this link to a quick step-by-step installation guide, which includes a video.
- For help with the ParentSquare app, you can submit a help request at
- https://carmelunified.

Again, we need every family to download the app now to ensure you get all of the communications moving forward. Thank you.
