Principal's Friday Email
Posted by Lindsey Terry on 4/30/2021
Good Afternoon Bobcat Families,
It has been a great second week and it is starting to feel like we have been back in-person school or with our new distance learning classes for a while now. Thank you for better following the drop-off and pick-up routes before and after school. Doing so has helped us to get all of our students onto and off campus quicker and reduced the time parents have had to wait in their cars. Thank you.
This coming Friday, May 7, is a minimum day for everyone in the district. In order to facilitate pick-up times across the district so families can get from Tular to CMS/CHS in time, we will be releasing students at 12:15 on Friday, May 7. Students will go to lunch at 11:50.

Make a Splash for the Bobcat Swim Program
There have been a couple of changes to our Make a Splash Swim Program Fundraiser. (See my Wednesday email for more information about our swim program).
Unfortunately, we found out that we are not allowed to do 50-50 raffles as a PTO. So we are changing that to a straight donation. If you are wanting to donate directly to the swim program you can use the link https://www.paypal.com/
Now, all of the proceeds from the May 15 bbq will go straight to our swim program. The bbq will be Saturday, May 15th, from 4 - 6pm, at the Carmel Valley Community Youth Center. Not only is this a fun community event with the option to hang out together - socially distanced - but it’s a great way to raise money. We need volunteers to help set up, grill and pack food. It’s a ton of fun, and a great way for older children to get community service hours. Please sign up to volunteer with the following link:

We are still soliciting Sponsorships for our "Let’s Make a Splash” Campaign. This sponsorship campaign will continue all Summer and Fall semester. We're looking for community leaders and businesses to sponsor the swim program. The Tularcitos PTO is a non-profit organization. 100% of donations are tax deductible (Tax I.D. # 77-0010111). For more information, please contact Gina Nucci at gina.nucci@gmail.com.

Spirit Days Every Friday
We have always done a few dress up spirit days throughout the year, but they never got on our calendar this year. We thought it would be fun to end the year with different spirit days each Friday. Here is the schedule. If your student does not feel like doing whatever is listed, they can always wear their Bobcat spirit wear or dress in green and white.
- May 7: PJ Day – wear your pajamas to school
- May 14: Crazy Hair/Hat Day – do something crazy with your hair or wear a crazy hat
- May 21: Stuffy Day – bring a, or your favorite, stuffy to school with you
- May 28: Positive Message Shirt day
- June 4 (last day of school) Bobcat Spirit wear Day: wear your Bobcat spirit wear, or dress in green and white
5th Grade Families
We are still in the process of planning out the end of year events for you. We are excited that we should be able to do an in-person promotion ceremony, but we are still planning everything, including the day and time of the ceremony, in order to follow the regulations. We want to and need to get this information out to you soon. Stay tuned for more communication next Friday.
Parent Input form for Next Year’s Class Placement
While we cannot 100% say what next year will look like, we are moving forward at this point planning for us to be fully open next year. At the end of each year, we work as a staff to establish classes that are balanced for next year. When making class placement decisions, we take into account a variety of factors to achieve the best balance possible. The following factors are considered:
- Each student’s academic status, special needs, interests, behavior, and motivation;
- Boy/girl ratio;
- Academic balance of high, medium and low achieving students;
- Styles of individual teachers;
- Class size balance among classes at each grade level.
Parents/Guardians who would like to give input about their child’s placement may write a request for a particular learning environment (e.g. learning style, personality attributes, classroom physical environment, educational needs, etc.) by completing the Electronic Class Placement Parent Input Form below. All forms must be submitted by Friday, May 7th. No late forms will be accepted. Additionally, since some teachers change grade levels year to year, please do not write a request for a specific teacher. If a form is turned in with a teacher's name as a particular request, it will be discarded and not considered.

You can Still get a Yearbook
There is still time to order the yearbook for this crazy COVID year. You will definitely want it as a memory. From now until May 14th, yearbooks are $25 and are available for purchase online. Please go to www.jostens.com.
Math Textbook Adoption
Next year our school district will be going through a process to adopt a new elementary math curriculum. We would appreciate you taking a few minutes to provide us your feedback on what you would like to see in a math program to help us in our decision. Below are links to the survey in Spanish and English. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

CUSD Grant Money Feedback
Good news! The district is expecting to receive approximately $1.5 million through a new state grant. We’d like your input about how to spend the funds. Through the passage of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant (Senate Bill 86), the state of California is allocating funds to school districts for learning recovery programs that provide supplemental instruction, support for social and emotional well being, and meals for specified student groups.
Please click this survey link to provide your input about what we should prioritize as a district. The survey will be open through the end of day Sunday, May 2.
Message from our PTO
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 5 at 6:30 pm. For next school year we are looking for a new President and Vice President. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Peterson or current PTO President, Gina Nucci at gina.nucci@gmail.com.
