The Superintendent search process is progressing. Over the past two weeks, consultants from HYA have conducted over 20 focus groups and individual interviews with key stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, community groups, service clubs, government officials, and other district partners. During this stakeholder engagement process, a survey for all stakeholders was also made available on the district websites and via community emails. More than 600 respondents have weighed in on important issues and priorities in the district (including 177 students). The survey and focus groups have helped to clarify the skills and experiences the next superintendent for CUSD will need in order to succeed in our high-performing and diverse school district and community. A leadership profile will be developed using the information gleaned from the survey and focus groups and used during the next phase of the process, which is the recruitment phase. This Leadership Profile will be reviewed during the special Board of Education meeting on Friday, March 19.
According to consultants Pitts and McGee, several qualified educators have expressed interest in the position, and several more will reach out after viewing the Leadership Profile. Serious applicants will participate in screening interviews with our consultants, as well as initial reference and background checks. The Board will review a slate of candidates matching the Leadership Profile characteristics and select semi-finalists for first-round interviews.
We are pleased with the progress to-date and feel confident that we will succeed in attracting an exceptionally qualified candidate.
Please join us at our special Board of Education meeting Friday, March 19.
