Happy Weekend CMS Families!

What a week!

This week we pulled off three days of 7th grade MBOE, our first Open House since 2019, 5th Grade Orientation visits, a production of Alice in Wonderland, and, to top it off, the CMS Rock Band gave us a fantastic lunchtime concert on Friday! The amount of people I’d have to individually thank for the work that went into making this week fantastic would be pages long, so I’ll just start by saying thank you for your help and support in creating a fantastic end of year experience for our students.

With that, we’re now down to the final 4 days of school (with several students reminding me that it’s actually 3.5 due to the minimum day on Friday).  As we move into the final week of school, please talk with your students about maintaining positive behavior.  Sometimes, kids do strange things in the last week of school, exhibiting behavior that does not match the positive patterns previously established.  We’ll be reminding everyone to maintain positive citizenship over the past week so that we can all finish the year and head into summer on a high note.  Please emphasize this message at home as well!

Thank You for MBOE!
We have so many people to thank for the wonderful three day experience 7th Grade MBOE was this year.  First, I’d like to thank all the participating CMS teachers, including those who designed field lessons for the students, served as leaders for each group, or worked behind the scenes to pull off MBOE.  Special thanks to Mr. Steely for his organizational efforts and for connecting us to wonderful community partners including Hastings Reserve, Palo Corona Regional Park, and Point Lobos State Reserve!  We’d also like to thank our guest speakers including CSUMB Profession Corin Slown and CMS Alumni, Congressman Jimmy Panetta, for taking the time to speak with our students during the MBOE morning sessions.
In addition, we had a number of parents who volunteered one or more days to help us pull off this event.   We’d like to extend our gratitude to Tierney Thys, Anthony Herro, Amber Lawson, Tara Ryan, Paola Fejes, Jeff Collins, Susan Hagan, Lisa Biakanja, Randall Frederick, Genevieve Weaver, Jason Dunton, Jennifer Peavey, Geraldo Cabrera, Sharon Rachuna, Rebeca Salazar, Susan Hagan, Bahar Iranmanesh, Josh Becker, Cindy Moreland, Michelle Marie Kane and Drew Lander!  Without your support, we would not be able to engage our students.
