Good afternoon CMS Families,

By the time you read this we will have only 14 days of school remaining!

Highlight of the Week: Spring Concert: The Spring Concert took place early this week and our young musicians put on an absolutely spectacular end of year performance.  The night was highlighted with a touching send-off for our 8th grade musicians as Mrs. Prusaksy recognized each and every promoting musician.  Tomorrow our groups head for Music in the Park, the end of year competition and an annual highlight for the program.  Good luck everyone!

Changes to Class Party Day for 6th and 7th Grades: We wanted to let you know that we have decided to make a change to the class party format we’ve offered in the past.  Due to a variety of logistical components we are moving the end of year class party celebration from Wednesday, June 5th to Friday, June 7th.  Our 8th grade trip will still be held on Wednesday, however, 6th and 7th grade students will be on regular schedule and have a regular day of school.  The end of year party for the 6th and 7th grade students will take place on the final day of school.  Students will receive their yearbooks, attend periods 1-4 on a modified schedule, and then report to the gym for 2 hours of dancing (with a DJ), games, raffle prizes, treats and more.  We’re looking forward to ending this school year with a big celebration for all of our 6th and 7th grade students.

Stay Focused! Finally, as we wrap up the year, please remind your student to maintain their positive focus on both grades and behavior.  Sometimes as the year comes to a close, students engage in some strange behaviors, checking out academically, and acting in a manner that is significantly different than what we’ve seen for the first few months.  Reminders from parents to stay the course, stay focused, and finish the year on a positive note are powerful messages that help keep our school environment positive for everyone over the last 14days.  Thank you for your ongoing support in this area!

Chinese Language Finals: Chinese Language Finals will take place on May 21st-23rd

Lunch Accounts and Charging: As of Monday, May 13, our cafeteria will no longer allow students to charge for lunches on their accounts.  In addition, it is important that outstanding balances be paid off prior to the end of the school year.  Keep in mind that any money left on your student’s account will transfer over to next year even if they are moving from middle to high school.  Thank you!

A Few Spots Left on the East Coast Trip: Last chance to sign up for the 2019 8th grade trip! We have an extension until May 22nd. Please see the attached letter from World Strides that explains all the details of the trip.

Your children will travel to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. on a history tour with their classmates. This is a fantastic trip that your child will never forget.

Does your child have a loaner Chromebook checked out? The library still has a large number of loaners checked out! You can always check your student's current library record if you are logged into Chrome with your child's username and password. From the MySchool Home page, click on Classlink,  and sign in your with a CUSD  username and password. On the Classlink main page, click on the "Library & Research" folder, then click on Follett Destiny. In Destiny, select the "My Info" tab. If you see an Acer Chromebook, it is most likely a loaner. Please ask your student to return it to the library on Monday. The library has been running out of loaner Chromebooks on the days with long testing period.  If you have any questions, please email our Teacher Librarian, Susan Thompson (
