Tularcitos Elementary School PTO
November 5, 2014
President Robyn Rauh called meeting to order at 8:47am. Monthly PTO meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month at 8:45am in Bobcat Hall.
Robyn introduced herself. Everyone introduced himself or herself and what grades their kids were in.
Student Council-The President and Vice President introduced themselves. The Student Council is the liaison between the staff and the students. Student Council decides on themes for Spirit Days, organizes annual food drive and helps during student assemblies. A student in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade can be on Student Council but only for two years. Only 5th Graders can be Student Council President.
Principal’s Report-Principal Ryan Peterson introduced himself. Principal Peterson announced there are approximately 503 students in the school.
Thank you to all who helped with the Fall Festival! The students had a great time! The kids didn’t seem to mind the hot weather as a sprinkler tent was added to the activities.
We managed to sneak in the Halloween Parade before the rain really started! The students were all happy that the parade took place. Thank you to all the parents who came to stand along the parade route!
Parent-Teacher Conference Week is coming up. There will be translators on campus for Spanish speaking families.
On Thursday, the Annual Emergency Drill will take place. This drill takes place to prepare for natural disaster or fire. This drill will include fire department and police. Parent volunteers will be on campus to help with the drill. An email will go out to all parents this week as reminder.
Treasurer’s Report- This month Escrip brought in income of $1,384 and Fall Festival brought in $13, 506. Expenses this month included paying for the Spirit Wear and Fall Festival.
Minutes Approval-Emily Frew made a motion to approve minutes from October 2014 Meeting. Unanimous vote was made to approve minutes.
Yearbook-This year 7 students will be journalists and add student quotes to the yearbook. 5th Grade memory pages can be bought either online or submit a form. Sponsors are needed for the yearbook! Sponsors can be a person or a business! This is great advertising for any business! Yearbooks will be on sale for pre-order until December 20th for $10 and then $15 after deadline.
Fall Festival-Thank you to Dennis and Andrea Jarvis and Robyn Rauh for their hard work! The festival was huge success. This year’s Festival was the warmest day compared to recent years. However, it did not affect the fun and festivities at all!
Escrip-This year parents can use Amazon as part of Escrip! Go to the Amazon web site to designate Tularcitos. Room-Parents need to encourage parents to give Safeway Club Card #. Sign up is free and can be done at any Safeway or on Safeway web site.
Bucks for Bobcats-This year’s campaign will be Nov. 3-14. There will be a pizza and ice cream party for the class with most participation! Encourage students to participate and bring in any amount, even a quarter! Class winner party will be held on Nov. 18th.
Hospitality-Parent-Teacher Conference Week is coming up! Appreciation Brunch will be Nov. 19th and Nov. 24th. An email will be sent out with food sign ups.
Teacher Lounge Makeover Planning is in full swing! Please contact Michelle Bevard to sign up for help. We need labor volunteers!
Spring Fling-On March 27, 2015, the Spring Fling will be held at Hidden Valley. Anyone interested in volunteering to help out, please contact Robyn Rauh. A committee meeting will be announced in the future.
Talent Show-Joy Smith will be coordinating annual school talent show for all 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders. The show will be on February 6th. Audition information and guidelines will be available in the future.
FOCUS-Friends of Carmel Unified Schools-Organization raises money and purchases items for schools such as laptops, digital cameras, and science lab equipment. The annual fund-raiser this year is November 14th at Quail Lodge. Please contact Cindy Schroeder if you are interested in joining.
Super Bowl Raffle-Carmel High School is selling raffle tickets. Grand prize is trip to the Super Bowl! 100% proceeds go to college scholarships. Please see Elaine or Kim in the office for info.
