Tularcitos Elementary School PTO
September 3, 2014
President Robyn Rauh called meeting to order at 8:45am. Monthly PTO meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month at 8:40am in Bobcat Hall.
Robyn introduced herself. Everyone introduced himself or herself and what grades their kids were in.
Principal’s Report-Principal Ryan Peterson introduced himself. Principal Peterson announced there are approximately 503 students in the school, 40 more than last year.
Thank you to all the parents who came to the school on Saturday to help push sand on lower level playground. Kindergarten kids went back to their classrooms. The outpouring of community support to offer to help has been amazing. Thank you very much.
Thursday, during lunch Principal Peterson took an ice bucket challenge for ALS. Approximately $2,266 was raised. There were 184 buckets poured!
Please welcome our new art teacher, Terry Woodward. She will be teaching art part time. If you wish to volunteer during art classes, please see your child’s classroom teacher.
Treasurer’s Report-Year end report shows Net Income of $11,232 for last school year. This month eScrip brought in income of $2,828 and ALS Ice Bucket Challenge brought in $2,266. Expenses this month included paying for the swim program and classroom supplies and teacher stipends.
Minutes Approval-Brandi made a motion to approve minutes from May 2014 Meeting. Unanimous vote was made to approve minutes.
Fall Festival-This year’s Festival will include, Spirit Wear for sale, cake walk, bounce house, Kiwanis train rides, food, DJ music and lots of game booths. Sign up sheets for parent volunteers are posted outside each classroom. This year Brandi will be shadowing Robyn Rauh and Andrea Jarvis as co-chair.
This year’s grand prize raffle is dinner every month for a year. Robyn Rauh and Andrea Jarvis will be sending out letters to local restaurants this week asking for gift cards. If anyone knows any restaurant owners please pick up donor letter from Robyn. Small prizes are needed for the game booths. There will be a box in the office. Kindergarten classes will be able to attend My Museum Mobile and other games at 2pm. PTO is asking every family to please make cake or cupcake for the Cake Walk. The Cake Walk is the most popular event during the Fall Festival and contributions make it popular!
Escrip-This year parents can use Amazon as part of Escrip! Go to the Amazon web site to designate Tularcitos. Room-Parents need to encourage parents to give Safeway Club Card #. Sign up is free and can be done at any Safeway or on Safeway web site.
Yearbook-This year’s Coordinators are Pia Garneau and Linnea Terrranova. Room-Parents please try to assign one parent from each class to be Photo Coordinator. This person will be responsible for taking pictures of class at every class trip and activity. Any parent wishing to contribute pictures can bring in flash drive, cd or use Drop Box. Sponsors are needed for the yearbook! Sponsors can be a person or a business! This is great advertising for any business! Yearbooks will be on sale for pre-order until December 20th for $10 and then $15 after deadline.
Ways & Means-This committee gathers two times a year to determine if the PTO will fund requests from teachers that are not in PTO budget. If interested in being on the committee, please contact Ola Rocha.
Bucks for Bobcats-This year’s campaign will be Nov. 3-14. There will be a pizza and ice cream party for the class with most participation! Encourage students to participate and bring in any amount, even a quarter!
Room-Parent-Welcome new Room-Parents! Nakelle Fitzpatrick is the Coordinator. Please make sure to attend all PTO meetings or find someone to attend. Great deal of information is given out at these meetings. Room-Parents help teachers plan special holiday parties and provide that extra support to teachers. A list of parent contact information will be available to Room-Parents soon.
Spring Fling-March 27th, 2015 at Hidden Valley is Spring Fling. This is a night for adults to enjoy food, dancing, and our popular silent auction! Please contact Robyn Rauh to help volunteer.
Talent Show-Joy Smith will be coordinating the 2nd Annual School Talent Show for all 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders. The show will be on February 6th. Audition information and guidelines will be available in the future.
FOCUS-Friends of Carmel Unified Schools-Organization raises money and purchases items for schools such as laptops, digital cameras, and science lab equipment. The annual fund-raiser this year is November 14th at Quail Lodge. Please contact Cindy Schroeder if you are interested in joining.
No Screens for Ice Cream Week-During the week of September 15th, the school will give out contracts for students to sign and agree to turn off all electronic devices for a week. Those students who turn in the contract will be given an opportunity to enjoy an ice cream sundae during a lunch on September 24th.

Fall Festival-October 3rd at 3pm. Games, Kiwanis train ride,

Pastries with Peterson-October 23rd at 8:45am. Casual coffee
and pastries with Principal Peterson. Chat with other parents and
get to know our principal.
