Tularcitos Elementary School PTO
February 5, 2014
President Robyn Rauh called meeting to order at 8:48am.
Treasurer’s Report- This month eScrip brought in income of $3,352 and Box Tops brought in $674. Expenses this month included Yearbook for $1,340 and Field Trips for $1,746.
Principal’s Report-Principal Ryan Peterson introduced himself. There are approximately 483 students in attendance at the school. The new online sign up for After School Enrichment will take place this Friday at 5pm. This will be a Google Docs document.
This year the STAR test will be replaced by the CST Field Test. This is a computerized test separated into 4 sections, each section 45 minutes long. Students, parents and teachers will not receive results. This test will also provide accommodations for IED students. This test will offer students a better exposure to what testing will be like in middle school and high school.
Kindergarten registration will be open Monday, February 10. An email will be sent out with more information.
Please check email or check web page for link to complete school district survey. This survey is used as a tool to see how much funding the district receives for education. This survey shows how the district services the students and what improvements are needed for academic performance.
Student Council Report- The President and Vice-President educated the PTO on the mission of the Student Council and its duties. The Student Council is the communication link between all grades at Tularcitos. The Student Council provides assistance at assemblies, decides on community donations to non-profits and organizes special school activities such as Crazy Hair Day. The Student Council is made up of 21 students from Grades 3-5. Two classmates from each class are chosen through class vote. The Student Council meets the 1st Tuesday of each month.
Minutes Approval-Joy Smith made a motion to approve minutes from November 2013 Meeting. Unanimous vote was made to approve minutes.
Talent show-Thank you to Joy Smith for coordinating the First Annual Talent Show. There will be 40 acts and 60 students participating. The Talent show will be on Feb, 11th.
Reading Week-This year Reading week will be February 24-28. No Screens for Ice Cream will also take place this week. Ice Cream party will be March 4th. Carmel Valley Library will be giving coupons to kids to come to library and receive a free book during Reading Week.
Spring Fling-This year’s Coordinator is Joy Smith. The Spring Fling will be at Hidden Valley on Friday, April 25, 2014. This year’s theme is “Spring in the Sahara”. There will be food and silent auction. Volunteers are needed, please contact Joy Smith. Donation letters were sent out. Anyone knowing a business willing to donate, please contact Joy Smith.
Reading Week-Reading Week will be February 24-28 and the theme will be Dr. Seuss’ birthday! This week will also feature No Screens for Ice Cream. More information on activities during this week will be available soon.
Yearbook-This year’s Coordinators are Pia Garneau and Linnea Terrranova. 257 yearbooks were sold this year. Yearbooks are for sale for $15. Please make sure your child’s 5th Grade Memorial Page has been completed.
New Business-The Art Docent training for volunteers needs to be reorganized. Can the school afford a regular art teacher?
