Meeting Minutes

 

 

January 8, 2014

 

 

 

President Robyn Rauh called meeting to order at 8:45am. Robyn introduced herself and everyone introduced himself or herself and what grades their kids were in.

 

 

 

Principal’s Report-Principal Ryan Peterson introduced himself. There are approximately 484 students in attendance at the school. There will be a CUSD school board meeting at Tularcitos on Jaunary 22. Tularcitos students will be presenting what they have learned.

 

 

 

“The Gallery of the Dots” Art Show is Friday, January 10th, at the Sunset Center 5 to 7pm.

 

 

 

Students collected over 1,400 canned foods for the canned food drive and over 60 coats were collected for the coat drive.

 

 

 

School Secretary, Elaine, reported that sign ups for After School Enrichment Classes have increased over the past year. Elaine asked the PTO for ideas on how to make the sign up process go more smoothly. River School uses a Google Docs form and Elaine will check into this idea and report back at next meeting.

 

 

 

Treasurer’s Report- In November and December, eScrip brought in income of $1,228 and Bucks for Bobcats Campaign raised $21,083. Yearbook brought in $3,140.  Expenses this month included Spirit Wear for $2,878.

 

 

 

Minutes Approval-Kristy Blakely made a motion to approve minutes from November 2013 Meeting. Unanimous vote was made to approve minutes.

 

 

 

Bucks for Bobcats-This year’s campaign raised $21,083! Donations increased this year, and may be due to changing the date of the campaign and increased enrollment. There were 5 class pizza parties for participation winners.

 

 

 

Hospitality-Thank you to all who helped for the Teacher Appreciation Lunches during November conference week. The teachers were very appreciative and really enjoyed the food.

 

 

 

Talent Show-Tularcitos will be hosting a Talent Show featuring 3rd-5th Graders. Auditions will be held on January 15th at 3pm. 47 acts signed up for the audition. Acts included singing, dancing and poetry reading. The Talent Show will take place on Tuesday, February 11th.

 

 

 

Spring Fling-This year’s Coordinator is Joy Smith. The Spring Fling will be at Hidden Valley on Friday, April 4, 2014 (date changing to April 25-due to scheduling conflict). This year’s theme is Moroccan. There will be food and silent auction. Volunteers are needed, please contact Joy Smith at anagirls4@me.com if you are able to help.

 

 

 

 

Reading Week-Reading Week will be February 24-28 and the theme will be Dr. Seuss’ birthday! This week will also feature No Screens for Ice Cream. More information on activities during this week will be available soon.

 

 

 

Yearbook-This year’s Coordinators are Pia Garneau and Linnea Terrranova. Yearbooks are for sale for $15. Please make sure your child’s 5th Grade Memorial Page has been completed. Online orders for 5th Grade Memorial Page due date is January 14th.

 

 

 

FOCUS-Friends of Carmel Unified Schools-Organization raises money and purchases items for schools such as laptops, digital cameras, and science lab equipment. The annual fund-raiser this year was November 2nd at Quail Lodge. The event was well attended and very nice.

 

 

 

New Business-Our Lost & Found is growing and growing and a new system is desperately needed! Any ideas? Parent provided feedback on class field trips was discussed. Is there a Science Camp for 5th Graders?
