Tularcitos Elementary School PTO
November 6, 2013
President Robyn Rauh called meeting to order at 8:48am. Robyn introduced herself and everyone introduced himself or herself and what grades their kids were in.
Principal’s Report-Principal Ryan Peterson introduced himself. Principal Peterson announced there are approximately 473 students in the school. Thank you to all parents who donated extra Halloween candy to Mrs. Southerland’s class. The candy will be shipped to a troop in Afghanistan.
Principal Peterson announced that student report cards will look different from last year. The grading will be Thorough, Adequate, Partial and Minimal. Also, there is an overall broader category change. These broader categories will make it easier to monitor student progress.
Tularcitos received an Ocean Guardian Grant to be used towards less trash and recycling. Trash has been cut in half from two years ago.
Operation Padre flyers went out to every parent in the school district. The Carmel High School athletic field is in desperate need of repair and renovation. This is a very costly project but needed. There will be a donor wall and sponsor levels for different donation amounts. Please donate.
Treasurer’s Report- This month eScrip brought in income of $1,610 and Fall Festival had a net income of $10,230. Expenses this month included paying for the 5th Grade Overnight field trip, Spirit Wear and Teacher Stipends.
Minutes Approval-Tiffany Buraglio made a motion to approve minutes from October 2013 Meeting. Unanimous vote was made to approve minutes.
Fall Festival-This year’s Festival was huge success. The Festival made $1,200 more than last year! Thank you to Robyn Rauh and Andrea Jarvis for coordinating this event.
Bucks for Bobcats-This year’s campaign is November 4-15. All classes with 80% or higher participation will win a class pizza party, and the class with the highest % participation will win a pizza and ice cream sundae party! Class parties will be on November 22nd. Have a creative idea to promote Bucks for Bobcats? Contact Andrea Jarvis!
Escrip-As of November 1st ,Safeway will only donate Escrip to customers who pay with cash and debit card.
Spring Fling-This year’s Coordinator is Joy Smith. The Spring Fling will be at Hidden Valley on Friday, April 4, 2014. There will be a committee meeting on the first Wednesday in December for anyone interested in volunteering.
Talent Show-Joy Smith will be coordinating a school talent show for all 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders. The show will be on February 7th. Audition information and guidelines will be available in the future.
Hospitality-Parent-Teacher Conference Week is week of November 18th. There will be a brunch for teachers on Wednesday, November 20th and a catered brunch on Monday, November 25th. Michelle Bevard will be sending out email to Room Parents to ask for food for the brunch on Wednesday.
Yearbook-This year’s Coordinators are Pia Garneau and Linnea Terrranova. Room-Parents please try to assign one parent from each class to be Photo Coordinator. Sponsors are needed for the yearbook! Sponsors can be a person or a business! This is great advertising for any business! Yearbooks will be on sale for pre-order until December 20th for $10 and then $15 after deadline.
FOCUS-Friends of Carmel Unified Schools-Organization raises money and purchases items for schools such as laptops, digital cameras, and science lab equipment. The annual fund-raiser this year was November 2nd at Quail Lodge. The event was well attended and raised a substantial amount of money.
New Business-Michelle Bevard has organized a Save Santa Campaign. Due to loss of volunteers and funding at fire stations, there is a possibility the fire company cannot volunteer to do Santa Run this year. Please contact her if you wish to help out.
Upcoming Events: Bucks for Bobcats-November 4th-15th. Pizza and ice cream party will be on November 22nd for the winning class.
