Welcome to the Nutrition Services Department
Provide the most nutritious meals for as many students as possible during school days.Free Breakfast and Lunch Meals for All Enrolled Students for School Year 2022-2023
Beginning the school year 2022-2023 , California has become the first state to implement a statewide Universal Meals program for school children. Education Code 49501.5 requires public school districts, country offices of education, and charter schools serving students in grades TK-12 to provide two meals free of charge (breakfast and lunch) during each school day to students requesting a meal, regardless of students' free or reduced-price meal eligibility starting in 2022-23 school year.
Although meals are free of charge, the state continues to require school districts to distribute and collect free/reduced meal applications. Completion of these applications may bring significant additional funds to our schools, as well as, qualify students for individual benefits such as discounts and/or waivers of the college applications fees, AP testing fees, internet services, P-EBT benefits, discounted rates on your energy bill and more.
The link to the meal application can be found on the nutrition services website Carmel Unified School District or return a completed application form (available at all school sites or download pdf document in English here or Spanish aquí . Applications can be returned directly to your school site or to the Nutrition Services Department at Carmel High School (3600 Ocean Avenue, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93923).
