Dear Students,                                            Monday, March 30, 2020

I hope everyone is doing well.  I miss you all!

Here we are starting our third week of "school away from school."  Have you set up your homework routine?  Design a schedule that works best for you and your family, and set your own pace.  Keep track of your time.  Focus on your studies for at least 90 minutes each day.  This can be about 60 minutes for language arts/social studies (reading and writing) and 30 minutes of math. Add 20 minutes or more for AR reading.  Work at your "just right level."    You will make good progress if you keep a positive attitude, do your best, and don't give up.  Have a growth mindset!

You have packets of materials from your classroom teacher, and your class assignments are posted on your teacher's webpage.  You also have packets of worksheets and materiasl from me.  If you are in math intervention with Ms Hopkins, you will find links to Number Talks on her webpage. She also posted phonemic awareness excersizes on her webpage, just like the ones you do in reading intervention. Reading Horizons is now online. Make good choices so that you will make good progress in your academic skills.

    >> Classlink is your portal into all sorts of online learning programs:

    -   AR Quizzes: when you finish a book, take an open book quiz at home

    -   Reading Horizons: practice decoding - phonetic skills

    -   ST Math: practice math concepts and problem-solving without language

    -   Imagine Math: practice a variety of math problems

    -   Reflex Math: practice and memorize all of the basic math facts. + – x ÷

    -   Typing Agent, Type to Learn, Dance Mat: improve your keyboarding skills

    -   Google Docs: creative writing; the genre this trimester is opinion writing

    -   Find more educational links on this webpage and on my activities webpage

If you have questions or need support, email me at jpetray@carmelunified.org

    Stay healthy and happy!

    Ms Petray

MTSS ~ Multi-tiered System of Support

RtI ~ Response to Instruction & Intervention

Tularcitos provides MTSS/RtI through our learning center model. We use a team approach to meet the needs of our students. Teachers and specialists work collaboratively to identify students' needs and provide interventions and adaptations that address those needs. Learning specialists and program aides support students in classrooms through co-teaching and push-in support. We also provide small group targeted instruction in our learning center classrooms.
