College and Career Readiness Department
Welcome to the College and Career Readiness Department. Our mission is to develop and lead K-16 College and Career Pathways to make sure that graduates are advantaged upon graduation. We believe that every student has their own unique and purposeful pathway to success. We aim to provide every student with engaging, relevant, and unique learning experiences to prepare each individual to thrive as global citizens in a rapidly changing world. Our work involves industry members, community leaders, staff, parents and students working collaboratively in recommending and implementing innovative and rapid changes to our existing infrastructure, human and fiscal resources. The product of our work is the creation of new programs, reimagining existing programs and pathways to meet the aspirations and post-secondary goals of our students. We invite you to explore our web page and be part of our programs.

Career Technical Education
A program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. The CTE pathways at CUSD are designed for students to experience work based learning opportunities, including guest speakers, field trips to industry, job shadowing and internships. The students will have an opportunity to earn industry certifications that will place them ahead of their peers to obtain employment when desired.
CTE Handbook is under construction and ready to be published by October 2023- stay tuned.

Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment offered through the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) program has been part of Monterey Peninsula College's efforts since Fall of 2017. CCAP courses are guided by Assembly Bill 288, which grants community colleges the chance to partner with K-12 school districts. MPC has a partnership with Carmel High School to increase college and career preparedness for student participants by offering college classes at Carmel High School. This program is free of cost to students and their families. This program allows students to complete college credit while in high school.
