Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the process of a Superintendent search? Or What does a Supt. search mean?

    Posted by:

The CUSD Board is responsible for selecting and appointing a new superintendent. The Board has engaged the services of a Superintendent search firm, Hazard, Young, Attea (HYA), to assist in the recruitment, interview, and selection process. The initial stage of this process begins with a comprehensive outreach to staff, parents, community, and other stakeholders to gather input on the strengths and challenges of the district as well as desired characteristics of a superintendent that match the needs of the district. HYA consultants Max McGee and Valerie Pitts will conduct individual interviews, focus groups, and community and staff forums. A survey will be made available as an additional method for input.  A summary report and leadership profile will be developed and presented to the Board as we move into the process's recruitment phase.

In the final phase of the process, screening interviews take place, semi-finalists are interviewed by the Board, and qualified candidates advance to the final interview process and selection.

  • How/When will the stakeholder summary be presented to the Board?

    Posted by:

A summary of all stakeholder input and survey results will be presented to the Board at the March 19, 2021 Special Board meeting. It will be posted on the website shortly after that. The summary and Leadership Profile is used to help recruit applicants.  It will also be used as a basis for interview questions, and once the superintendent is hired, it will be a foundational document for developing a 100-day plan and annual goals.
