Dear Students and Families,
We know that this is a very unusual time for all of us, and we are hoping to make the transition to “Distance Learning” as smooth as possible. You will be coming to pick up a bag from school on Tuesday, March 17th. Your child's name will be on their bag, and everything they need to be successful over the coming weeks will be inside.
The district’s expectation is that each of the students in 2nd grade will complete an hour of school work each day and an additional 20 minutes of reading. We have spent time making this as organized as possible for you and your child. We have created a calendar with what we expect your student to accomplish each day. Please support your child with these activities as we would in the classroom.
We have also included an optional activities section at the bottom of the calendar. These activities are meant to extend learning for those students who need more to do or are looking for a challenge. For example, we have included a “Tangy Tuesday” packet that allows your student to do both written and online activities that they really enjoy.
All students will be able to access ClassLink from a home computer (instructions & login information are included in the bag). Please encourage your child to use ST Math and Typing Agent throughout the closure. Other links are also accessible from their ClassLink page, some fun, some academic.
Inside the bag, you will find a manila envelope that has an additional two weeks of work. In the event that school is closed for a longer period of time, this will allow the students to continue their learning at home. We will not have another opportunity for you to pick up work as all future communication will be via email and posted on the school website. We have also included a reading text book with many different stories that can be used as an option for the students’ 20 minutes of daily reading.
When you visit the school website (Tularcitos.org), please see your classroom teacher’s webpage for additional online resources and information. The Science, PE, Spanish, Library, Computer Lab and Music teachers have also been working hard to provide online activities for our students. These will be posted on their own class website (Teacher Websites).
We know that the coming weeks bring uncertainty, but we hope that these learning activities will provide some consistency for your child. We will miss all of you, but know that the health and safety of everyone in our community is most important right now. Be well.
The 2nd Grade Team
