• SECOND STEP AT HOME

We are excited to inform you that families now have access to recorded versions of Second Step® Emotion Management lessons for Grades K–5. These are available to stream, without the need to create an account or log in with a special code.
There are at least five recorded lessons for each grade level. These lessons were specifically chosen to help students during this difficult time and focus on managing anxiety, managing feelings and emotions, and employing calming techniques.

The Second Step program teaches skills in the following areas:

    1. Skills for Learning: Students gain skills to help themselves learn, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, use self-talk to stay on task, and be assertive when asking for help with schoolwork.

    2. Empathy: Students learn to identify and understand their own and others’ feelings. Students also learn how to listen to and appreciate another’s perspective and how to show compassion.

    3. Emotion Management: Students learn specific skills for calming down when experiencing strong feelings, such as anxiety or anger.

    4. Problem Solving: Students learn a process for solving problems with others in a positive way.

SECOND STEP AT HOME DURING REGULAR SCHOOL SCHEDULE

We have introduced the Second Step Program to all of our students.  This Social Emotional Learning program has great family activities that you can incorporate at home.

We invite families to join with their students through the Home Links Activities that go with several of the Second Step lessons. Home Links are simple, fun activities for you and your child to complete together. They are a great way for you to understand what your child is learning and for your child to show you what he or she knows.

To access the online parent component, create an account at Second Step The website will ask that you use a “school email”, please be sure to use your personal email, and enter the Activation Key associated with your child’s grade-level. If you have children in other grade levels, you can add their Activations Key as well, under the same account.
