Mrs. DiGirolamo - Room 7
Welcome to second grade! We are going to have an exciting year and I am anxious to get to know all of my new students. This year you will have a lot of opportunities to work in cooperative groups with your peers. We will read some great literature together and you will become familiar with many different types of genres.
My name is Michelle DiGirolamo and I am a second grade teacher at Carmel River School. This is my 25th year here at Carmel River School and I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. I graduated from Chico State University and I received my teaching credential from Chapman University. My daughter Madison is in her third year at UC Berkeley and my son Marco is a senior at Carmel High School. I am an avid reader (when time permits) and I love going on summer vacations to Lake Tahoe and Hawaii with my family. When I grow up, I would like to be a country singer! I also enjoy running and listening to music. Black licorice and any kind of chocolate are my favorite sweet treats and I love bubbly water.
As a teacher I am always trying to encourage students to be in charge of their own learning. I want them to be proud of their accomplishments and confident in their abilities. Kindness and caring is an important part of my classroom. I want kids to feel valued and respected by their peers. My motto in the classroom is to always try your best in whatever you do!
