FAMILY OCEANS AFTERNOON
Our community is deeply linked to the ocean. Its beauty and vibrancy shape our daily lives and how all of us work and play. In addition to educational field trips, assemblies and classroom instruction targeted towards honoring and celebrating oceans, the River School hosts a Family Ocean’s Afternoon in April or May from 3:00 – 5pm.
At the Family Oceans Afternoon, students and families engage in hands-on learning about marine organisms and ecosystems. They are able to enjoy presentations by local experts from some of the region’s preeminent ocean research institutions and management agencies
The Family Oceans Afternoon provides students with authentic and meaningful learning experiences through which they will come to understand and respect the ocean and the role it plays in our lives. At the end, we believe our students will become better stewards of this vast and inspiring resource in our backyard.
