Dear Cougar Parents,
Welcome to the 2010 – 2011 School Year! On behalf of the Carmel Middle School PTO, I would like to welcome you and your family to the Carmel Middle school community. I am very excited to be serving as your PTO President this year and be working with such an experienced and dedicated group of volunteers that make up our board. We are fortunate to live in a community where families care about each other and parental involvement in our school is an everyday part of our children’s education. It is our hope that the PTO can support and strengthen the efforts of the faculty and administration. There are many wonderful things going on at middle school and lots of ways to get involved. I encourage you to attend a PTO meeting. Join the community of parents who work so hard to support all students at Carmel Middle School. We are all volunteers working together, and encourage you to join us, in whatever way your life may allow.
~ BE IN THE KNOW - at our monthly meetings, you can keep up with what's happening at school. You'll hear what the administration is working on for continual student success. Come find out what you can do to make a difference for your child, and make our school an even better place to learn.
~ ACCESS GREAT RESOURCES - although the main focus is students, the PTO is also here to help parents navigate through complicated issues we all have to face. PTO members can log on to www.ptotoday.com to find helpful solutions.
~ MAKE CONNECTIONS - at a PTO meeting, you can network with others who share your concern for children and their education.
~ SHARE YOUR SKILL - Our PTO is a diverse group of parents and community members, each bringing something unique to our organization. Please let us know YOUR interests, and we can find a spot for you to share your talent with our students. From gardening and mentoring, bookkeeping to bake sales the PTO needs your support.
~ SPEAK UP - Our meetings are a forum for exchanging ideas. If you have suggestions for improvement, here is your chance to be heard. Through PTO you can be a more effective advocate for your child, and other students too.
~ BE A ROLE MODEL FOR YOUR CHILD - Your involvement at school shows your child how much you value their education. What a perfect opportunity to lead by example and give back to the community, for the betterment of all our children!
Finally, I specifically ask that you take time to sign up for EScrip. It is a program in conjunction with local retailers, where a percentage of your purchases help fund additional learning at our school. It is free to sign up and best of all you are helping our school with very little effort. As a PTO, we are very proud of the enriching programs we fund such as Ohana Day, Rachel’s Challenge, the MEarth Habitat, Honors Ceremonies, Promotion Events, Academic Awards, the Renaissance Faire, Supplement Textbooks, Student Scholarships and much more. You can sign up at anytime, it is fast and easy. Escrip is a major source of our ability to fund these endeavors.
Listed below are the members of the PTO Executive Committee for the 2010-2011 school year. Please feel free to call or email any of our board members. We would be happy to visit with you and answer your questions.
Thank you for your continued support in our mission to provide all our children with an extraordinary and successful experience at Carmel Middle School.
Sincerely,
Rita Patel
