Building to Support Achievement
The Measure A school improvement program, authorized under the passage of Proposition 39, includes modernization and expansion of all schools in the Carmel Unified School District. Some of the key aspects of the program are to optimize state school facilities program funds, minimize learning disruption, promote the arts and physical fitness and maintain safety and quality standards. Completed projects include the pool at Carmel High School, the track at Carmel Middle School, the library and new wing at Tularcitos Elementary School, and the front office at River Elementary School. Carmel High School is undergoing construction on its new theater building, 4-classroom wing, and landscaping. Construction is underway on River School's new multipurpose and music room. The complete modernization and new construction program for the 7 schools in the program is projected to be finished in approximately 2010.
